Why am I not seeing as much detail or detail/contours disappear when not zoomed right in?

Why am I not seeing as much detail or detail/contours disappear when not zoomed right in?

This will happen if the detail setting on the Garmin device is set incorrectly, you need to change it to Highest/Most as otherwise some data will not be shown.

On most Garmin devices this is changed via Setup -> Map -> Advanced Map Setup -> Detail (set it to Highest or Most, whichever is the top option)

You may also need to adjust the Zoom settings to tweak what data/text is shown at the various zoom levels.

Again, on most Garmin devices this is changed via Setup -> Map -> Advanced Map Setup -> Adjust Zoom Ranges

For Fenix and other Garmin smartwatches, the step by step instructions can be found here: https://shop.talkytoaster.me.uk/step-by-step-instructions-for-fenix-list-maps-etc

For most modern Edge models, the setting for Detail, can be found under: Menu -> Activity Profiles (select a profile) -> Navigation -> Map -> Map Visibility -> Custom (Please Note: Changing this setting may set the map style away from Classic, making the map look different than intended, there are instructions on how to set it back to Classic, here: https://shop.talkytoaster.local/knowledge-base/how-to-fix-the-blue-background-issue-on-the-edge-520-530-820-830-1030)
