Why can't I copy a > 2GB map to a MicroSD card or Internal Storage on a Garmin device, via a Mac?
There is a confirmed bug in MacOS High Sierra (and later) that is erroneously limiting the transfer of files larger than 2GB to devices and storage that are formatted as FAT32 (this is the only supported file system that Garmin devices support).
You will normally only see this issue when using a Mac running High Sierra (10.13 or later) and you are using Finder to try and copy the map. You can successfully copy larger files (> 2GB) to FAT32 formatted storage using either the command line 'cp' command, or via another file manager, such as ForkLift, Transmit, Commander One, or Path Finder instead.
These other file mangers do not suffer from the same bug as the inbuilt Finder app.
