What Rechargeable Batteries Do You Recommend?

I often get asked what are the best rechargeable batteries for Garmin handheld devices, after years of trying a multitude of different brands of rechargeable batteries, I found that the best batteries were the Sony/Panasonic Eneloop ones.

Why? Well, unlike most rechargeable batteries they hold a charge for a loooong time, up to 85% of the initial charge up to a year after they were first charged. In contrast most other rechargeable batteries I’ve tried lost all or most of their charge in a month or often just a few weeks…
